I am Leigh...
I am a social worker based in Cape Town, South Africa. I have over 30 years of experience in assisting people cope with mental and physical illness, dealing with bereavement and loss, and relationship issues that impact on individuals, partners, and families.
I completed a Master’s degree in Narrative Therapy that is a respectful, non-judging approach to counselling that centers people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives.
Although trained in problem-solving and in the narrative therapy method, I use a myriad of modalities in my counselling practice.
My approach is a practical one in dealing with challenges and transitions, through the careful scaffolding of collaborative questioning.
